While OpenSprints provides free software options (below) that will work with OpenSprints Hardware, we also encourage people to write their own software.

Here is a list of software that is OpenSprints Hardware Compatible:

[edit] Option #1: Dedicate a cheap Linux Netbook to your setup

We highly recommend you buy one of those really small and cheap $300 USD netbooks from Acer to dedicate to your goldsprints system. That way there is no risk of anyone else using it improperly, dropping it and/or accidentally downloading a virus before an event.

Currently the Linux operating system is the ONLY supported option, but before you start twitching when faced with the unknown, you can install everything on a common USB thumb drive (examples pictured below).

Not natively, at least not yet, but you can run your setup on a PC using the USB Flash Drive. If you a developer and want to help with this effort, let us know.

If you have any trouble at all, please contact us, if you really want to, we can install a USB Flash Drive for you an mail it out for a nominal fee.
